Barriers or mounds of sand which are either naturally created or artificially established bayward of the beach berm which absorb or dissipate the wave energy of high tides and coastal storms. Any towed or self-propelled camping vehicle that is equipped with a toilet and a permanently installed, waste, storage tank capable of holding a minimum of 2 days volume of material. Any motorized vehicle which is capable of traveling over sand including - but not limited to - over-the-road vehicles such as beachbuggies, four-wheel-drive vehicles, pickup trucks, and standard automobiles. In addition to the definitions found in § 1.4 of this chapter, the following terms or phrases, when used in this section, have the meanings hereinafter respectively ascribed to them. (12) Hunting on seashore lands and waters, except as designated pursuant to § 1.5 and § 1.7, is prohibited. (11) The hunting of upland game shall not be conducted within 300 yards of any waterfowl hunting blind during waterfowl season.

(10) Parties in blinds are limited to two hunters and two guns unless otherwise posted at the registration box for the blinds. (9) Prior to entering and after leaving a public hunting blind, all hunters shall check in at the registration box located on the trail to the blind he is or has been using. (8) Hunters using Service-owned shore blinds shall enter and leave the public hunting area via designated routes from the island. The blind shall be left in a clean and sanitary condition. (6) In order to retain occupancy rights, the hunter must remain in or near the blind except for the purpose of retrieving waterfowl. Hikers can enjoy miles of beaches on both the Maryland and Virginia sides of the island.The superintendent shall determine the number and location of first-come, first-served and/or advance reservation blinds. , five miles of paved roads include a bike path and fifteen miles of trails wind through refuge marshes and forests, including a path to the Assateague lighthouse. 'Life of Assateague' self-guided trails interpret three different barrier island habitats. , four miles of paved roads include an adjacent bike path. Vehicles must return to the mainland to access either the north or south entrance. There is no vehicle access between the two entrances on Assateague Island. The south entrance is at the end of Route 175, two miles from Chincoteague, VA. Assateague's north entrance is at the end of Route 611, eight miles south of Ocean City, MD. There are two entrances to Assateague Island National Seashore.
